Brazilian Embroidery Design   Remembrance  RW 855

Remembrance is a dimensional bell with flowers, designed by Phyllis Burgess, a Brazilian embroidery instructor and quilter from Aloha, Oregon.
Her original design was stitched in shades of off-WHITE with a variety of Brazilian embroidered roses, and was a blue ribbon winner at the Oregon State Fair. Eight flowers cascade from the bell on this design and are accented with pearls and petite seed beads. An excellent design which also lends itself to patriotic red, WHITE and blue!

Reminiscent of the quilted Grandmother's Flower Garden design that was pieced by hand in small pieces.  Having to take special care with the hexagons making sure each and every corner is just perfect!  This is sooooo much easier to do and just as elegant! Grandmother’s Flower Garden has been re-designed!  The center flower is the Olde English Rose, stitched with “Archie.”  Other flowers on the design are Flowering Quince (the design which introduced Archie to the world), Lobelia, and the Herringbone Rosebud. The border is stitched with the new Colonial Couch and the ribbon streamers are made with the new Twisty Ribbon Stitch.

Orchids in Bloom RW 931

 

Orchids in Bloom  The centerpiece of this orchid grouping is a realistic Cattleya Orchid, two petals stitched with a ruffled drizzle and the focal petal completed with the up-down detached buttonhole stitch.

            New, easier versions of the Cymbidium and Bella Orchids are also presented.    The Cymbidium is made with Woven Picot Bullions; its showy center petal with bullion bundles and up-down detached buttonhole stitch.   Brazilian Outline Stitch is used for the leaves.  Bella’s petals are made with Millefiori’s original Woven Buttonhole Bullion, Up-Down Drizzles and Frilly Ridges.

            And there really are Butterfly Orchids.  A matching butterfly enjoys the view.
