Brazilian Embroidery Designs Hattie’s Pincushion by Rosalie Wakefield
RW967 Hattie’s Pincushion by Rosalie Wakefield $12.50
Advanced level
Design: 6” x 8” on 12” x 12” fabric.
Astrantia, the very tall and beautiful pink garden
perennial, is also known as Masterwort, Melancholy Gentleman or Hattie’s
Pincushion. Its beautiful seed pods are often used in dried arrangements. This
flower is translated into Brazilian dimensional embroidery using the delightful
and original drizzleberry that Rosalie developed a few years ago. In addition,
there’s a new arrangement of cast-on stitches used to complete other astrantia
varieties on this design, and the seed pods are finished with beadwork, satin
and cast-on stitches. Hiding in the shadows of leaves and stems edged with my
versatile Brazilian Couching technique are two very cute little pincushions –
hedgehogs, stitched with Rosalies’ original barbed bullions and beady little
eyes and noses.
Other requirements: #3 and 5 milliners needles,
embroidery needles, needle threader, pincushion for drizzles, 8” hoop or
Q-snaps, regular embroidery supplies. A darner or the new #15 milliners needle.
Includes fabric print, and
full color instructions.
